DEFECTIVE WINDOWS 

Window leaks are frequently one of the first construction flaws discovered in a house. Property owners may notice that the windows are fogged or stuck shut, or they may notice cracks in the stucco or drywall around the windows. The resulting water intrusion can prove extremely destructive.

Window defects often include:

• Leaks at corners and heads of the window
• Leaks at the window sills
• Waterproofing paper flashing or building paper that is incorrectly lapped
• Sheet metal head flashing that is missing
• Improperly installed flashing around sills
• Using lath that is not galvanized
• Improperly installed Sisalkraft
• Incorrect thicknesses of stucco
• Staples driven in too far, causing the waterproofing paper to tear
