Weyerhaeuser’s TJI Joists with Flak Jacket Protection Lawsuit
Have you purchased or are you about to purchase a home containing Weyerhaeuser’s TJI Joists with Flak Jacket Protection? The Weyerhaeuser company issued on press release on July 18, 2017 stating that a recent formula change to Weyerhaeuser’s Flak Jacket fire-protection coating caused products with Flak Jacket to release formaldehyde fumes. The company states that the issue is isolated to Flak Jacket product manufactured after Dec. 1, 2016. Flak Jacket Protection is a coating applied to I-joists to enhance fire resistance. The product is present in the basements of approximately 2,200 houses in various stages of construction in Colorado, New Jersey, Missouri, Delaware, Ohio and Arkansas. The following home builders may have used the products in constructing their homes: Richmond America Homes, Toll Brothers, CalAtlantic Homes, and K. Hovnanian Homes.
