University of Texas Presidential Fellows Class Action

Withdraw of 63 scholarships for 2018-19
Investigating a potential class action lawsuit against the University of Texas (UT) for a catastrophic error in the admissions process at its UT-Tyler campus which resulted in the withdraw of 63 "Presidential Fellows" scholarships to students beginning in the 2018-2019 school year.  Affected students were notified in early May 2018.  The Presidential Fellows are awarded $27,000 in scholarship funds each year of their four year collegiate careers. UT-Tyler officials allege that too many scholarships were offered creating a funding shortfall.  In an effort to remedy the situation, UT-Tyler offered in-state tuition rates and $5,000 in merit scholarships annually; however, the students affected would be paying $10,000 per year when they expected to be attending college tuition-free.  The majority of students affected are international students, and UT-Tyler's timing makes it difficult for them to make alternate plans for the fall semester since colleges are completing the enrollment and scheduling for fall at this time.  If you or a loved one is affected by UT-Tyler's decision to rescind its "Presidential Fellows" scholarship offer, please submit your information below.
