Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education Grant Class Action
Investigating a class action lawsuit on behalf of recipients of the Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education Grant. This federal program awards grants to teachers who, as education students, plan to work in high-need schools or teach high-need subjects. To obtain the grant, teachers must submit relevant paperwork to prove to the company running the program on behalf of the federal government that they meet the requirements. Many teachers have reported that, despite submitting the correct paperwork, their grants were converted into loans, forcing them to pay interest on what was supposed to be an award. Teachers who have attempted to reverse this mistake have found government agencies to be unresponsive. A 2015 Government Accountability Office report determined that 2,252 recipients had their grants mistakenly converted from August 2013 through September 2014. If you are a teacher who received a Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education Grant and it was converted into a loan, please contact us. |
