Sorin 3T Heater-Cooler Refund Class Action Investigation
Investigating a class action lawsuit in order to recoup money on behalf of hospitals and surgical centers who use the Sorin 3T heater-cooler unit during cardiothoracic surgeries. Heater-cooler units heat or cool water in order to regulate a patient’s temperature during operations. The device contains water tanks that transmit water through closed circuits to external heat exchangers or warming/cooling blankets. A recent report revealed Nontuberculous Mycobacteria, which are found in soil and tap water, are “aerosolized” and expelled from the Sorin 3T through its exhaust fan. As a result, the bacteria migrate to the patient undergoing an open-chest procedure. Reports of infection have been disclosed by hospitals around the country. If your hospital or surgical center no longer uses the Sorin 3T heater-cooler unit or believe use of the medical device led to patient infections, please contact us. |
