Navient’s Mistreatment of Student Loan Borrowers Class Action Lawsuit Investigation
Investigating a potential class action lawsuit against Navient, the largest servicer of federal and private student loans in the country, on behalf of its borrowers. It is alleged that Navient mistreated borrowers, and their loans, by, for example: failing to notify borrowers of variable interest rate increases, resulting in borrowers’ automatic payments not covering the increased balance due; steering borrowers towards hardship forbearance or deferment action rather than potentially more beneficial repayment plans; and misapplying borrowers’ payments. It is further alleged that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) received more complaints from borrowers about Navient over a three-month period (November 2016 to January 2017) than from any other company in the industry. If you, or a family member, have federal or private student loans being serviced by Navient, please contact us.
