The Princeton Review Online SAT Tutoring: Price Dependent on Race and Location – Class Action Investigation
Investigating a potential class action lawsuit on behalf of students who were charged more than other students by The Princeton Review because of their race and/or geographical location. The Princeton Review offers student preparation for many standardized tests in exchange for a price. When seeking online tutoring, The Princeton Review's website requires users to enter their ZIP code before receiving a price for the individualized tutoring service. In some cases, that price varies by ZIP code (or United States postal codes). One study, involving an analysis of this practice, revealed that Asians were disproportionately represented in ZIP codes that were quoted a higher price. As a result, Asians were 1.8 times as likely to be quoted a higher price from The Princeton Review than non-Asians. This same study also showed an increased likelihood of being quoted a higher price for ZIP codes with high median incomes. If you or someone you know paid a higher price to The Princeton Review because of your race or geographical location, then please contact us for a free consultation. |
