Investigating a potential class action lawsuit against Blackjewel LLC after two coal mines near Gillette, Wyoming shuttered their doors the week of July 1, 2019. It is alleged that more than 600 workers are without jobs after Eagle Butte and Belle Ayr mines in the Powder River Basin closed. A representative for Blackjewel LLC claimed on July 2 that there was a fire at one of its two recently closed Wyoming mines, but a Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality official said there was only smoke. The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act stipulates that employers give employees at least 60 days notice prior to termination. If you were employed by the Eagle Butte or Belle Ayr mines and were laid off without 60 days notice, please submit your information below.
